THE PHOTO ACADEMY New York

No other city lives up to its hype quite like New York! It's the global cultural capital for a reason and it's hard to imagine living anywhere else. Make the most of everything the city has to offer, including our specialized photography classes and online classes.

Our expert photographers will teach you to see the city with fresh eyes. Even if you're a born and bred New Yorker, photography is the perfect excuse to get out of your daily routine and discover new spots in NYC. In no time at all, you will be taught how to take awesome photographs and improve your skills, all whilst learning more about your city!

What to Photograph in your city?

Where to begin?! Simply stepping out your home offers a whole heap of photography possibilities. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the number of options we offer, figure out what genre of photography you want to focus on. Spend a morning or afternoon walking around with your camera and see what attracts you the most.

An obvious choice would be architecture photography, since New York is jam-packed with the most iconic buildings in the world. Even though it's one of the most photographed landmarks in the world, why not try to take an original photo of the Empire State Building? Experiment with the composition, framing and light to avoid a clichéd tourist shot.

With 8.5 million neighbors from all over the world, is there a more exciting city to practice street photography? We doubt it! Walking from one block to the other can feel like travelling to another country. The streets are alive and there is always something unexpected around the corner. Our street photography class will teach you to capture those funny, weird and breath-taking moments, before they quickly disappear.

Are your out-of-town friends coming to visit? Take them to your favorite rooftop bars to get that memorable skyline shot. We offer classes in selfies so you can impress everyone at the table with the best group photo! Or, if you need to get a gift for your arty family members, our vouchers make the perfect present.

Spend a day in the museums and art galleries photographing the world's finest masterpieces. Our favorite museum is the Guggenheim. Although we won't blame you if you skip the paintings and just take photos of the gorgeous foyer instead!

Do you already have experience with photography but need a refresher? Check out our reviewer class! If editing is more your thing, then the Photoshop class is perfect for you.

If you can't make it in person, try our online classes. For those that don't have an SLR camera, DSLR camera or a film camera, we've got you covered with our smartphone photography courses!

Photography Classes and Online Classes for Everyone!

You don't need to have professional photography experience or a creative college degree to join our classes. Have a look at our courses for beginners, including the online classes. By the end you will get the best use out of your camera and have a great understanding of photography :)
