Philip is amazing. Super knowledgeable and patient. Its amazing the research and prep that he puts into his teaching class. I'm very impressed and hope my last class is scheduled with him. From my discussion with other students, I believe he's their favourite as well.

Ario is a great teacher and we learned a tonne!

He is a fantastic teacher, really cares about your learning and is an expert in what he is teaching. He is a good communicator of the material and gets you outside practicing and gives feedback to ensure you understand the material. Would 100% recommend the course based on his teaching.

The veno Ario chose was not very good for giving a lecture as there was a tremendous amount of noise from other patrons

James was once again, a great teacher of his craft. He is very patient and makes sure he gets to every student and is certain they know what they are doing and are able to show they got the technique he is teaching. Thanks James!

Ario is a calm, well prepared instructor. He is supportive and encouraging, he makes sure everyone in the group is engaged.

I appreciate he came prepared, had specific things to teach and I understood what he wanted us to know. Great class!

aside from the initial booking issues I had I really enjoyed the class.

Ellina is lovely and very personable and I enjoyed her first class, however, I felt I did not learn much the second class, mostly because it appeared Ellina was not familiar with the topic well enough to teach it. I feel had she been better prepared to teach it, I would have learned it better. I recommend requesting instructors their lesson plan prior to teaching a class. Thank you

I was disappointed to meet at Starbucks again, as it isn't conducive to being able to hear instruction. Unfortunately, Ellina did not arrive early as she indicated to secure a table. We were all together at one table, this was good however, we were right at the front door, the busiest spot in the cafe. Ellina's laptop was not working properly, a student ran to get her's, this indicates to me there was no prep done. We had two new students join us, we were now 7 students. One of the new students hadn't taken the first class, so there was a good amount of time on the basic questions which should have been answered in the first class. As it is a noisy, busy location, I couldn't really hear, I did let her know, but I guess there was only so much better voice projection available. It was a typical unsettled weather day in Vancouver, so we spend a great deal of time in the cafe. There are only so many pictures of your coffee cup and inside the cafe to be taken. Other patrons appeared to be uncomfortable with having 7 people taking numerous photos with them sometimes in it. Ellina did not seem to know a number of questions that were asked of her, so lots of time was spent looking in up on Google. By the time the rain subsided, I was no longer engaged and did not look forward to the out door time. I thought the first class was much better although, Ellina was going to email us some information from the first class and the second, I still have not heard from her. I did message her yesterday letting her know, it has not been sent, and have yet to hear back. Ellina is a lovely gal, however, I feel she was not prepared to teach the second class. We all set aside time in our busy days, and pay a good price for our class, and look forward to a new hobby, this was disappointing. I will take the 3rd class on June 18, I hope I have enough knowledge for the class. and I also hope we have a different instructor who is prepared and chooses an appropriate meeting location.

The. Instructor wasn’t ready for class. Her laptop wasn’t working and she kept getting confused when talking about material. She didn’t get to the coffee shop early so we ended up in a loud spot by the door, she didn’t speak loudly for everyone to hear after we asked her to. 7 people was too many. One person came and he had not taken the first class and he sat by the teacher and she focused mostly on his questions that we learned in the first class. Overall not impressed and don’t feel like o really learned anything. She seemed to not have prepared for the class and didn’t know the material. Additionally we met at a busy coffee shop again and it was not conducive to learning as people were uncomfortable with us taking photos in the store.

Elina did a great job delivering the content. 5 people was the perfect amount in class.

Oscar was our instructor for all 4 courses. He accommodated everyone needs and ensures all our questions were answered. I loved getting out and walking the streets in the neighbourhood. He was always making sure we understood what our objective was for the exercise we were doing. Really enjoyed the course

Oscar is a great instructor. He is very patient and ensures all students receive the necessary attention to ensure they have all their questions answered. He uses examples of various photos taken using the various shutter spèeds. He encourages the students to find different subjects to shoot and try the techniques used in the class. I am feeling more and more comfortable using my camera and am finally turning off my auto functions. Can't wait for our next class.

Alexander was a great teacher and very personable, I just wish the class was larger (it was just me!) but understand this is strange times!

Gary is very personable, gave relatable examples to demonstrate materials (ie. histogram, exposure compensation and white balance) and provided an overall positive learning experience. Would highly recommend continuing photography education with Gary.

Garry went above and beyond. He didn't just teach me about how to best use my camera, he also helped set up my equipment and guided me on purchasing a new lens and accessories. He then offered additional help afterwards, would highly recommend.

Gezim was a fantastic teacher!! Lots of insight into photography and I am fully comfortable with manual mode now :)!

The instructor never showed up!!!! Wasted a day. Course had already been cancelled once. Highly unreliable way to attempt to learn. I am giving you the opportunity to make things right before I post publicly.

Instructor cancelled less than 3 hours from start due to a cold and headache. I have been waiting to do the street class since 24 Aug.

I did all four beginner workshops with Garry last weekend and he was great with showing examples and offering all sorts of tips and tricks to us, based on what we asked about. When we did our walks around to put the theory into practice he also talked about composition and creative ideas as they came to him. It was good value. thanks.

This #3 Intro course was what I hoped. This instructor was easy to relate to, and was patient in showing us the elements of 'Motion' in taking photos, and in so doing made me so much more comfortable to get to full Manual mode. Still lots to practice upon to master it better. Thank you.

Gezim Ibrahimi is very knowledgeable, patience and a very calming way of explaining things. He answered all my questions promptly and has a very good eye for composition. I have learned many new ways of looking at things that I didn’t know before. Overall, I am very please to have had Gezim as my teacher.

I thought Gary did a great job of ensuring we were all following what he was teaching and checking in with all members of the group! I feel like I now have a basis to do a little more exploring with my camera.

Gezim was a good teacher. He was a bit tripped up because we were using the Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop versions that are part of the web subscription package, not ht eLightroom Classic version that he uses in his studio. The navigation is a bit different. He gave many valuable pointers to using Photoshop efficiently. My partner and I were complete novices, so there was a huge amount of ground to cover. I feel Gezim gave us the basic tools with which to explore the capabilities of Photoshop and develop skills by actually using the software.

Gezim was a great instructor, and made the class fun

So far so good, I had good classes. Definitely I’m coming back to study .

Would have liked more examples of portraits during the theoretical portion to get ideas for the field portion. Thanks - there is much to learn!

Gazim is an excellent instructor. He is also friendly and fun, and gives his students a great photography experience.

Gezim was a great instructor. I had him for both composition and low light photography. He spent about 15 minutes talking about each topic and then we were out in the street practicing. I think spending most of the time taking photos and trying different things with the guidance of the instructor was the best way to learn! He was really good at making us think about how we frame our subject and what settings we should use in certain situations. He showed us some great spots to photograph and the 3.5 hours flew by!

Many of my classes have been canceled and I have heard from a lot of other people that this has happened to them many times too!

Garry was great, super knowledgeable, chose the right amount of topics to dive into, was teaching at a level I could understand, and made sure to have time for questions. I do think maybe that we could have started off sharing what got us interested in photography and what kind of photography we wanted to do (in case it might shape a bit of what we talk about) but maybe that's better suited for classes at a higher level. Either way I got so much out of it, thank you so much!

Garry was very nice, however, I found that time could have been utilized a lot better. The lecture can fit into 2-ish hours and the rest of the time would be beneficial to spend actually using the camera. I found that Garry spoke a lot about himself and his experiences and not enough time spent on participants playing with their cameras.

Over 2 days, finally got more comfortable with my camera, and esp. the use of Aperture setting. 1st session started with 'care of camera' useful. Histogram use well handled, and by 2nd session incl practical examples outdoors solidified my basic learning. Teacher was readily approachable, and spent time with each as needed. Great personal anecdotes to illustrate his points.

The students asking questions outside of the lesson at hand should not be answered with lengthy descriptors especially questions about material not in the lesson booklet.It takes away from the teacher-class flow in terms of comprehension and adds to confusion. The instructor should be polite and say thats outside of the lesson in front of us lets carry on.

Garry is a lovely guy and a good photographer, but not the best at explaining or defining things. As a pure beginner, I needed more structure in the course and more explanation, instead of "shoot in this mode to have better pictures." I wanted to know WHY that mode is chosen and what it is being affected. I learned a lot, but also would have learned at least twice as more with a different instructor. I don't think my time or money were well spent

I think the course could be given in two classes rather than four, there is not enough to cover in the 3.5 hr class.

Great class and instructor. Really nice pace and a setting where you can ask lots of questions and get hands on advice and help. Gezim was knowledgeable, funny and always providing tips and tricks based on his long experience in photography.

Gezim was extremely knowledgeable and patient with the class. There was a lot of different cameras and a lot of different types of people present and he handled everything in stride and with great care. I would definitely recommend this instructor to anyone.

He was friendly and accommodating to those using cell phone cameras.

I think the class size limit should be 5 people since there are so many types of cameras and lots of questions. It would allow for more interaction and learning, which I believe is justified by the current course price.

Loved Gezim’s class and how he interacted with everyone, he is an excellent teacher, very knowledgeable and very helpful!

Ellina was very nice, patient and willing to help. She was very kind and willing to help class participants with finding the features in their camera. However, where there was a significant lack was with the content to we were to learn, unfortunately. She did not know the various components of the material she was to cover and had a very hard time explaining it. The class was not structured and I didn’t feel that we covered the material systemically and thoroughly. Unfortunately there were many concepts that she was not familiar with. She basically read the material we were given. I am very disappointed with my experience. I am signed up for 3 other classes and will have to cancel if the instructor is the same.

The group format and individual attention was great. Venue is good. A bit of lack of knowledge/experience from the presenter.

Garry Johns is a very knowledgable person that i learnt alot from over the past 2 days. You guys are lucky to have him on your team thx for everything will be contacting you guys about more advanced courses soon Ron

Alex was super helpful. I got a different LightRoom version than that used in the class. Alex was quick to find me the right version and have it installed on my laptop.

Unfortunately I didn't find the photographer had sufficient knowledge specially on low light photography. She didn't know all the terminology and didn't address using flash or tripod, I felt she was a bit too amateur to provide the workshop, I believe a more seasoned photographer is required. But photographer was very friendly and helpful.

He provided a good balance of lectures and experience opportunity. The class included only 4 other classmates which means he has time to attend to each of our individual needs and questions.

Alexandra made us all feel involved and comfortable. I easily felt like we could ask any questions related to the class and get and honest, friendly answer. He had a great mix of lecture and practice time in the workshop.

Alex provides a good balance of lectures and practical time in his classes. He helped each of us and paired us up to switch between being photgrapher and subject.

The instructor was not comfortable with my use of an Android notepad. I was fine with that but you might want to add bringing a pen and paper to your list of suggestions. I

The teacher was fantastic. The location for the workshop was terrible. I had to take a cab because I didn’t want to risk having to park too far away because the neighbourhood does not feel safe at all. When we went outside to take photos, we were having to step over needles. We had to keep the door locked because there were so many sketchy people outside. Aaron was fantastic though.

I loved the classes and the teachers, although i think we could have enjoyed a little bit more of the city, we only walked around 2 blocks. Another thing is that in the website it says that the payment would be in canadian dollar but in my credit card it came with american dollar and i had to pay way more... What should i do about that?

Annette was 15 mins late for the class. She did not seem to know what was expected from the courae curriculum. She took my camera to take photos and then handed it to someone else to hold. This student then dropped my camera causing 300 dollars worth of damage. Both Annette and the student have refused responsibility. I gave the camera to Annette to take photos with thereby accepting the risk of her holding it. But she passed it on to someone else without my permission, therefore she takes the responsibility for the student holding it. However she has refused any culpability. I’ve tried to contact photo academy to see what the insurance covers but I’ve had no reply. Disappointing all around

Annette was very straightfoward and helpful. I had fun learning new things and getting out of my comfort zone a bit.
