A workshop that was explained so excellently by Matt.

It would be nice to have photography courses outdoors, too. I am sure that the limitation is because you do not have trainers in all countries, of course, but photography is most of the times outdoors, so I was limited as regards choice of courses (only online) because of the country I live in.

A really great course and a great teacher.

Although the content is fine, the price is ridiculously high for what you're getting.

Alnoor was a wonderful teacher and took his time to thoroughly explain the settings of my camera. He was clearly very passionate about his craft.

Nothing went wrong. Yvan is a lovely person, but still a very new teacher. It was just a little lacking. While I appreciate the time spent actually taking photos; I find the actual teaching to be too brief. The history of Street Photography is really interesting and we got very little of it and the instructor was not super familiar with that aspect. I also think it might be good to include so woman street photographers in the selection of those covered.

Well-planned session, nice group of people; I liked the fact that the group was small.

The class was fantastic. I love shooting after a lesson with the review after. That's when I learn even more for future photo shooting. I also found the other links that Bojan sent me to be a good for extending my learning from this class. I can't wait for my next class.

Bojan did an amazing job explaining what street photography is, techniques for taking successful images. I enjoyed working through the exercises in real time and critiquing the photos after for feedback on improvement. I will enjoy using the skills I learned on my next photo shoot. Thanks!

Tim's explanations were very useful. Besides he was very kind.

Kryves was patient with us, supportive when we did something good and not overly critical when we made mistakes. Use of example photos and their settings really helped. Good location to start in the library and then move to the park for the 2nd day. I appreciate the offer for to sit in future (same) classes. This comment goes for all 4 courses, so I won't reply to the others separately.

Giuseppe was a patient teacher, and happy to answer all our beginner questions! He clearly loves what he does and has a wealth of knowledge, which he was generous in sharing with us in this workshop.

The teacher showed interest in teaching everyone and I feel he did a good job of making us understand how movement and shutter speed impacts the final picture.

I really liked the practical side of the course. Ario was nice. We learned how to use the aperture in street photography which is something I was very interested in.

It was a pleasant expierence, Philip was a very nice and willing to teach and clarify any questions. I came out understanding my camera a lot better.

Was a little uncomfortable taking pictures of strangers in moving cars.

Organization was lacking. The first day, A Room at the library was misbooked for only one session for the day leaving us in a public space for the second session. The second day, was to start at 10:00 in the library. Since it was a Sunday, the library didn’t open until 12:00 leaving us walking to a nearby coffee shop for the first couple of hours, our second session was to go until 6pm, however the library closed at 5 leaving us outside in colder weather for the last hour. Instructor was very good.

to have 4 courses in one day was far too much especially as a non camera technical person

I think the course details should come out earlier to allow people to plan better - not least to make personal/travel arrangments

The platform for registration is difficult and it is very hard to get in touch with anyone if you’re having technical issues.

Some of the questionnaire was in French! Brett was great, he balanced constructive criticism with friendliness well! I found the feedback really useful.

Owen is a brilliant teacher. There were things I learned that I hadn’t know before and hadn’t been mentioned in an online class I did last year. He explained things very well.

Honestly, I thought there would be more. 5 or 6 concepts in a 3.5 hour course seems like it wasn’t worth it. While the instructor was clearly knowledgeable, imparting that knowledge wasn’t a strength. Give more examples of when you’d use the different features and what results to expect. Tell us more about the relationship of the 3 factors in the triangle. Just seemed like a lot for very little without much detail.

My camera's battery ran out so I couldn't get practice and help with it. I used the instructor's camera but am trying to learn at home now with my own. Didn't get the manual, it was hard to grasp some of the concepts without the visuals. The instructor managed to send it to us.

I thought the courses were good, didn't get the manual ahead of time though. It was helpful.

The photography course would have been a more pleasant experience for me except that my camera experienced a fault on the morning of the class. The course ended up being more of theory than practice. The tutor tried to help by having me use his camera a few times but it wasn't the same because I felt I didn't really fully benefit from what the course had to offer. It's something I do feel sad about, having looked forward to the training since March.

We felt like there wasn't really any new content in the second lesson. The instructor wasn't really sure what she was supposed to be teaching us and mentioned that the course was too long and it should only be an hour a couple of times. Some of the exercises were the same as the first lesson as well. Not really wanting to do the third lesson because of this. Have emailed as well. Haven't heard a response back from you guys yet.

Was disappointed that the class was held outdoors in Dora’s backyard. The temperature on Saturday morning was around 10 - 12 degrees, although not wet but definitely cold. Would have preferred an indoor setting on such a cold morning.

The veno Ario chose was not very good for giving a lecture as there was a tremendous amount of noise from other patrons

aside from the initial booking issues I had I really enjoyed the class.

I was expecting a classroom setting where it would be clear to hear the instructor and away from external noise and distractions. Also a place to review photos from the excercises. It is difficult on the camera screen and in sunlight. Alnoor is very knowledgeable and helpful in answering questions.

Ellina is lovely and very personable and I enjoyed her first class, however, I felt I did not learn much the second class, mostly because it appeared Ellina was not familiar with the topic well enough to teach it. I feel had she been better prepared to teach it, I would have learned it better. I recommend requesting instructors their lesson plan prior to teaching a class. Thank you

I was disappointed to meet at Starbucks again, as it isn't conducive to being able to hear instruction. Unfortunately, Ellina did not arrive early as she indicated to secure a table. We were all together at one table, this was good however, we were right at the front door, the busiest spot in the cafe. Ellina's laptop was not working properly, a student ran to get her's, this indicates to me there was no prep done. We had two new students join us, we were now 7 students. One of the new students hadn't taken the first class, so there was a good amount of time on the basic questions which should have been answered in the first class. As it is a noisy, busy location, I couldn't really hear, I did let her know, but I guess there was only so much better voice projection available. It was a typical unsettled weather day in Vancouver, so we spend a great deal of time in the cafe. There are only so many pictures of your coffee cup and inside the cafe to be taken. Other patrons appeared to be uncomfortable with having 7 people taking numerous photos with them sometimes in it. Ellina did not seem to know a number of questions that were asked of her, so lots of time was spent looking in up on Google. By the time the rain subsided, I was no longer engaged and did not look forward to the out door time. I thought the first class was much better although, Ellina was going to email us some information from the first class and the second, I still have not heard from her. I did message her yesterday letting her know, it has not been sent, and have yet to hear back. Ellina is a lovely gal, however, I feel she was not prepared to teach the second class. We all set aside time in our busy days, and pay a good price for our class, and look forward to a new hobby, this was disappointing. I will take the 3rd class on June 18, I hope I have enough knowledge for the class. and I also hope we have a different instructor who is prepared and chooses an appropriate meeting location.

The. Instructor wasn’t ready for class. Her laptop wasn’t working and she kept getting confused when talking about material. She didn’t get to the coffee shop early so we ended up in a loud spot by the door, she didn’t speak loudly for everyone to hear after we asked her to. 7 people was too many. One person came and he had not taken the first class and he sat by the teacher and she focused mostly on his questions that we learned in the first class. Overall not impressed and don’t feel like o really learned anything. She seemed to not have prepared for the class and didn’t know the material. Additionally we met at a busy coffee shop again and it was not conducive to learning as people were uncomfortable with us taking photos in the store.

What a great course and experience… great teacher Dan makes it easy!!

I bought this as a surprise for my boyfriend. He didn't get asked to even take out his camera for the entire two hours and the whole time Tony just went through a powerpoint. I thought this would be an engaging class where they actually take some pictures and walk around and at least break out the camera for a LITTLE bit. Very disappointing and in my opinion not even close to the money I paid to sit in a coffee shop for two hours and stare at a powerpoint.

I honestly didn’t believe I would be able to shoot in manual mode, but the course and teacher made it so easy to learn I was really impressed.

Compared to the other tutor, Paul (I was with Classes 1-3), this was a below par, very disappointing 4 Lesson. We spent almost the entirety of the lesson in a noisy Cafe and very heavy on theory and only 10/15 mins doing practice outside at the end. Also reading the class notes afterwards there were portions that we did not even cover. There was also a clear difference in a wide knowledge of other camera brands so often I was told to look it up myself.

My courses have been cancelled on numerous occasions and as I wanted to complete the courses before a trip I had to ask for my last 2 courses to take place on 1 day. 2 courses that were originally due to take 2.5 hours each were crammed into one 2.5 hour session. I don't believe the Photo Academy is good value for money, I am very disappointed with the amount of money I have paid for courses to be cancelled at short notice and I wasn't able to actually have a photo course for over 2 months due to cancellations. If the instructor didn't do such a good job in the short time frame I would definitely be asking for a refund.

I only attended the last course of the series, but wish I had taken all four. Adeel was a great teacher, giving lots of examples to clarify the theory that he presented. I also felt welcome and comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. The course exceeded my expectations and I had a lot of fun!

Overall I immensely enjoyed his teaching, which encouraged me to improve myself. I wish I had more time to spend on the class.

Great class. Presented just the right amount of info for each class so far. Coffee shop location is a bit noisy at times but was bright and open for practicing taking pic while inside.

Matt was a very easy person to speak to and learn from. He covered essential basic topics clearly and also tailored tips and advice to suit my interests.

No communication on the day to confirm it was still taking place. The bond had already been built with 3 people and tutor and I turned up having followed them round various eating/drinking places in the rain I felt a million years behind the group in skill and relationship building. Tutor did not have a knowledge of my camera or make an effort to. Within 5 minutes of the class I was told the class wasn't right for me. it made for a very awkward afternoon overall.

Oscar was our instructor for all 4 courses. He accommodated everyone needs and ensures all our questions were answered. I loved getting out and walking the streets in the neighbourhood. He was always making sure we understood what our objective was for the exercise we were doing. Really enjoyed the course

Oscar is a great instructor. He is very patient and ensures all students receive the necessary attention to ensure they have all their questions answered. He uses examples of various photos taken using the various shutter spèeds. He encourages the students to find different subjects to shoot and try the techniques used in the class. I am feeling more and more comfortable using my camera and am finally turning off my auto functions. Can't wait for our next class.

Even allowing for the Covid restrictions given the original course booking was March 2020 and the number of cancellations of rebooked course due to "lack of participants" I would find it difficult to recommend you to a friend. I do acknowledge that you have always been helpful when I have contacted you, suggested alternative courses and provided the one-to-one course (which was excellent) I attended following the problem in December.

No indoor venue was allocated during the lessons which resulted in most of the day spent outside in 5 degrees with only a small section of the teaching in a loud and busy Pret a Manager. I was prepared for the practical part to take place outdoors but not the complete course.

It's was awesome to learn so much and had the feedback from an experienced professional. :) Really interested in doing more classes.

More dates to choose from would be advisable

I have applied a package of 4 courses but the classes are postponing many times due to insufficient students. It is difficult to arrange my time to fit in the ever changing class schedule.

Alexander was a great teacher and very personable, I just wish the class was larger (it was just me!) but understand this is strange times!

Poor teaching environment, too noisy, I hardly can hear the teacher speak.

The length of the course is too long even if they were interesting and Alnoor did speak loud enough to hear him with the ambient noise (music, people speaking...)

I really enjoyed the course from Neil, but this was the third attempt at arranging the course. I had originally booked a course on Street photography and this just didn't happen. I was then offered a course on Architectural photography as there was a second participant, I rearranged my schedule so that I could attend this course, but it was cancelled!

I couldn't be more pleased with my experience at Sander's class. Being the first session after the lockdown I was worried about the format and whether I would be able to get the full experience. Sander was incredibly motivated and prepared, taking the necessary precautions and still engaging the group. This was the beginner's module which is technical and can be boring, but Sander used practical examples every step of the way, allowing us to visualise the theory that we were learning. We spent the class outside and the weather was nice, and Sander made the most of the changing light and surroundings to turn them into teaching moments. Couldn't recommend more and I'm looking forward to the next one!

I would appreciate the possibility to ask a few questions by email (one only!) After the session because when you practice after the course, specific difficulties arise.

Hi given there were only two of us in the class it would have been very helpful for Emily to ask in advance what camera I would be using. I was unable to participate as I could not find the settings and she was not able to help me. I too have had to transition my business to operating online. It takes a. lot fo work to do it properly but it is worth it. Have practices with people just like your clients (or people who will. pretend) so you can anticipate problems that will come up like mine.

This class was more focused on DSL cameras, I thought it would be more inclusive of phones and other smart cameras. I did learn more about my camera but more by accident than by instruction. I also thought we would be taking more pictures. I attended another workshop on using your phone camera and it was much better. Emily is a great teacher, the class on portrait photography was extremely useful to me. I was very surprised how many things one can learn in only a few hours. I would definetely recommend it to my friends. Looking forward to other courses with the Photo Academy.

Gezim is a great instructor, passionate about his craft and able communicate instruction and theory very well to those with out very much photography experience.

Really enjoyed the class. Garry was very welcoming and was great at giving individual attention to all students. He was quick to praise and willing to answer any and all questions we asked

Leon is a talented photographer with an easy manner who guided us gently through the course content and put us in situations to learn without undue pressure. A very enjoyable course.

Excellent course. Sidney is knowledgable, a great teacher and a great person. 3.5 hours of joy, despite the rain. René

Alnoor was so clear and lovely and experienced, I really enjoyed the workshop and he is a great facilitator! My one suggestion is that we get outside a little bit more in workshop one. Thanks!

Daniel was a very competent tutor. He explained things in a straight forward manner which made understanding a few of the complexities of photography easier to get to grips with from a learning perspective. A very enjoyable few hours with my camera was had.

The class with Markus Schnabel was Great! Learned a lot and would recommend his class!

Absolutely dire. I bought for my dad and we can’t believe that you would run a photography course from a busy cafe and not actually take any photos. Just disgusting

This is not a reflection of the instructors teaching etc but rather I expected the class to be at a public building not someone's apartment so I went at 9am and saw I'd be walking into an unknown private apartment with a man I've never met or heard of and couldnt justify the risk for a single woman. Severely disappointed I did message him and he did try to call.

The session did everything I'd hoped it would, and Dan was excellent. He's a very good teacher, communicates really well and knows his topic thoroughly. It confirmed that I'd done the right thing in booking the course with you.

Great day, but there was a lot of walking around Manchester which you should note because anyone with motability issues would struggle. But I am looking forward to my next classes

The portrait class was excellent with the right mix of theory, practice and review.

Bruno was great! Kept the instruction simple and clear and was very helpful if the practical side, explaining what was going well and how to make it better. 10/10.. I think the screen moved just as I went to click 10 so may have accidentally come up with a lower score than I meant to give.

My lesson with Adeel was beyond awesome. He is so passionate about photography and gets excited when I've understood a concept he's tried to teach. I like that he meets in a public space so nobody feels awkward. He listens to my questions and makes sure I've understood the answers. He helped change settings on my camera to make it easier to use. He gives super-helpful tips when I'm taking pictures. I highly recommend him as an instructor and will definitely book future lessons with him.

It is a shame that you ask this big amount of money for what you give te people.

the location of the training was not good : in a busy bar with a lot of noise, it was difficult to understand the teacher. also the practical session was not efficient, we first went to a shopping center (due to the bad weather) but after some time we were told that it is not allowed to take pictures there. we then continued in the parking of the shopping center but this was time loss and not at all a safe place where many cars were driving (on a saterday afternoon). later on we went back to the bar to evaluate the taken pictures but after a while the battery of the laptop of the teacher was empty and then some more pictures were shown on his mobile. I found this a very unprofessional way of a training.

The class has given me the knowledge about my camera to explore more confidently. I still need lots of practice to become familiar. I am hoping Dan will be the tutor for the other sessions I am booked on as I will benefit from the same approach and somebody I feel at ease with and can discuss previous learning with too.

Instructor was very good. because of the weather we should have had an indoor venue such as a room in the hotel as it was not practical wondering around in such bad weather. this feed back is not easy to use as I could not reset it after a mistake. Bob Russett

Awesome as always!

The course was really helpful and I learned a lot. Adeel was great at explaining concepts and made suer that everyone understood what he was talking about before moving on. The only real downside of the course was how distracting it got in the coffee shop at times which made it harder to learn. The second class we had that day at more students compared to the first, so sometimes it was hard to see the powerpoint and hear what Adeel was talking about being at such a large table with many people. Overall, great course!

Eugene is an excellent tutor. He explains things clearly and is very patient, taking time to answer any questions and also explaining anything that's not easy to understand. I have really enjoyed my first and second workshops.

Great class! I'd highly recommend this for anyone looking to get a turbo start of photography.

Tyler, was very adaptable to all levels of experience of the students. He was very helpful and patient. The class atmosphere he created was relaxed and friendly.

Loved the lesson. This is the second time I have followed her lessons. Theory and techniques very easy to follow with some examples of great photographers. Directly implementing learned theory in to the streets and evaluating pictures makes this course very interesting!

I had a one to one session on Portraiture .We discussed the history of the specialisation before going onto reviewing my camera equipment and knowledge - the latter was deficient at times and he was very diplomatic.A practical session thereafter was very informative. This was an excellent session and I would recommend such a session to all without reservation.

Unfortunately the day was rainy and most of the course was inside a coffee place. Which was not very practical to do the exercises. It would have been better to postpone to another date in case of bad weather. The teacher was very nice but unfortunately his english was not very fluent so things were a little bit slow. It would have been useful too to know from the beginning the whole program of the course as we had the impression at the end of the 2 hours that we did't go until the end.

Gary is very personable, gave relatable examples to demonstrate materials (ie. histogram, exposure compensation and white balance) and provided an overall positive learning experience. Would highly recommend continuing photography education with Gary.

I learned a lot of new things during the workshop. I would only suggest to have a fixed meeting room for the workshop, because it's not ideal to in a coffee bar.

A great help, I understand my camera a lot better now.

Paul is very knowledgeable, and is accomplished at teaching what he knows. He gave great value.

Clear and concise teaching method. He hit the right level for the course and the students. As someone who has instructed adults professionally I found his style easy going and informative. I would add that some of the info graphs we were shown were extremely helpful and should be extended into the beginners course notes. I would also suggest that for the money the course should provide ready printed notes and note taking paper. The ability to further advertise the course to a wider audience through branded items is invaluable.

Eric is obviously a very experienced user of LR, but the course lacked structure and would have benefited from a more didactic approach.

I was mislead by the course description. It said "PORTRAIT" and that a part of the practice would also happen outside. In fact we had first a 2 hour slideshow with the "history" of portraitphotography and some selected well-known photographers. No indoor practice. Then we all had to go outside where the only excercises took place. The teacher told us to use MANUAL mode, and that was about the only technical instruction we got! I expected a course where to learn indoor photography within a controled environment. My fault! So I am dissapointed. Still I will recomend your Photoacademy to friends because I had some excellent classes from Sander de Wilde one year ago.

I missed practical tips to make a God portrait. It was more experiencing it yourself and trying, i expected more concrete info about what is necessary to make a God portrait
