What you'll be able to do

We cover basic photographic techniques, and immediately apply them through practical exercises. We discuss the decisions one must make while shooting. At the end of this course, you’ll be in control of your camera, and it will no longer make the decisions for you. You can begin to create the images that you’ve been wanting to. You’ll stop “taking” photos, because now you’ll have all the tools to “make” a photo.

How it works?

  • A summary of the notions covered in this course will be handed out at the end of each session. A “meeting form” with the exact meet-up location will be sent to enrolled participants a few days before
  • The workshops are composed of a theoretical part, practical training and a debriefing.
  • To get the most out of the experience, please respect the chronological order of the 4 workshops (i.e. take course No 1 first and couse No 4 last).

What participants say

I enjoyed all the sessions, good speed and presentation. I would use the camera as a "point and shoot" in auto for fear of messing up. Now more confident to take more shots and use different priorities to gain experience. Glad I signed up for this. Thanks.

Very pleasant experience with Matt! I took the 4 beginners' courses because I didn't know how to master my new camera and everything was well explained.

Excellent experience with Kevin! I followed the beginner's package I received for my birthday and made a lot of progress in a short space of time.

Alnoor had a phenomenal knowledge on the field of photography and could speak for as long and as much in depth on any topic as required. He was also very approachable, and I had a great experience learning from him. In future, if I decide to delve deeper into this field, I would love to take more courses from him.

Course No 1: Camera settings (Beginner level)

4.6/5 (73)
149 € 199 €

Learning to use the manual mode of your reflex or bridge camera is an important step towards taking better pictures. Operating manuals provided with the camera are monotonous and do not really show all there is to know about the many buttons and parameters that are available.

  • This beginner class is part of a pack of 4 workshops (14 hours)

  • A summary of the notions covered in this course will be handed out at the end of each session. A “meeting form” with the exact meeting point will be sent to enrolled participants a few days before class

  • Number of hours for this course - 3.30 hours. Depending on the number of students, the course can be completed in 2.30 hours, 3 hours or 3.30 hours. With very few participants, the quality of the class and the time allocated to each one to ask questions allows the course duration to be reduced in order to keep the chosen dates and avoid cancellations. Our classes are group classes, so there is a minimum number of participants required to maintain the session. If the number of students is less than 3, the session is likely to be postponed.

  • The workshop is composed of a theoretical part, practical training and a debriefing

Please note that we do NOT lend cameras or accessories

Course No 2: Aperture and Depth of field (Beginner level)

4.4/5 (49)
149 € 199 €

For this second workshop on camera technique, we will be discussing (among other things) "depth of field"; a central notion in photography and very influential on the aesthetics of your shots!

Prerequisites: to fully benefit from the teaching of Workshop 2, it is preferable to have attended Workshop 1 beforehand.

  • This course lasts 3h30 and includes a theoretical explanation, a central practical part and a debriefing of the course.

  • This beginner's course is part of a series of 4 introductory workshops for beginners, offered separately: workshops 1, 2, 3 & 4. Ordering all 4 at the same time results in a discount.

  • Depending on the number of trainees, the course can be completed in 2.5, 3 or 3.5 hours. With a very small number of participants, the quality of the course and the time left to each participant to ask questions, allows the duration of the course to be reduced in order to keep the dates chosen and avoid cancellations. Our classes are group classes, so there is a minimum number of participants required to maintain the session. If the number of students is less than 3, the session is likely to be postponed.

A meet up form will be sent to participants a few days before the date of each workshop, with the exact location of the meeting and the teacher's contact details.

4.5/5 (29)
149 € 199 €

How can movement be captured in photography? Or, on the other hand, how can you freeze the action of a scene?

Prerequisites: to fully benefit from the teaching of Workshop 3, it is preferable to have attended Workshop 1 & 2 beforehand.
