Alnoor had a phenomenal knowledge on the field of photography and could speak for as long and as much in depth on any topic as required. He was also very approachable, and I had a great experience learning from him. In future, if I decide to delve deeper into this field, I would love to take more courses from him.

Alex was a fantastic instructor who didn't just understand the content he was teaching, but was able to effectively teach the course as well from his expertise.

Honestly, I thought there would be more. 5 or 6 concepts in a 3.5 hour course seems like it wasn’t worth it. While the instructor was clearly knowledgeable, imparting that knowledge wasn’t a strength. Give more examples of when you’d use the different features and what results to expect. Tell us more about the relationship of the 3 factors in the triangle. Just seemed like a lot for very little without much detail.

I was expecting a classroom setting where it would be clear to hear the instructor and away from external noise and distractions. Also a place to review photos from the excercises. It is difficult on the camera screen and in sunlight. Alnoor is very knowledgeable and helpful in answering questions.

Compared to the other tutor, Paul (I was with Classes 1-3), this was a below par, very disappointing 4 Lesson. We spent almost the entirety of the lesson in a noisy Cafe and very heavy on theory and only 10/15 mins doing practice outside at the end. Also reading the class notes afterwards there were portions that we did not even cover. There was also a clear difference in a wide knowledge of other camera brands so often I was told to look it up myself.

Hi given there were only two of us in the class it would have been very helpful for Emily to ask in advance what camera I would be using. I was unable to participate as I could not find the settings and she was not able to help me. I too have had to transition my business to operating online. It takes a. lot fo work to do it properly but it is worth it. Have practices with people just like your clients (or people who will. pretend) so you can anticipate problems that will come up like mine.

This class was more focused on DSL cameras, I thought it would be more inclusive of phones and other smart cameras. I did learn more about my camera but more by accident than by instruction. I also thought we would be taking more pictures. I attended another workshop on using your phone camera and it was much better. I brought my partner to this workshop hoping for a similar experience and was disappointed.

The theory was wonderful, interesting and inspirational. The outdoor portion was short, not enough experimenting or play with lines, angles, and direction of how to get good architecture images.

The cafe wasn't a good place to hold the class in my opinion. It was fairly loud there, and the chairs were not meant to be sat in for over 3 hours.

I was very impressed by the style of teaching. It was extremely informative as well very casual. With a small group (5) we were able to ask questions and discuss aspects of the content. I am certainly signing up for the 3 other workshops!!

The class with Paul did not leave the perimeters of the Starbucks Cafe. The only "practical" part of the afternoon was aiming our camera at a Starbucks coffee cup 5 minutes before the end of the class. It was extremely disappointing. I am booked for classes on the 16 and 17 of January and would like to know whether these are also with same instructor, please? If so, I would like to change.

It was very good experience, we learned a lot. Special thanks to Alnoor, he was excellent and amazing teacher. I would recommend this course to anyone who is interested in learning photography. I learned so much in one single day that I have not learned in years.

Paul was passionate about his photography and this kept me engaged. He was patient in answering questions and no question was too stupid! He put at ease with his patient and engaging manner. I left feeling that I can continue on with my amateur interest with less anxiety and fears.

It was not clear that the photo academy doesn’t have a physical place and that the full day session will be outdoors. Only the last 15 minutes of the class was taking photos. The guide was nice and had a lot of knowledge, practice time was missing. The overall experience was not worth our time.

Teaxher was excellent. Material was well programmed. BIG no no for me was to hold the class in a cafe. If this is in order to keep price down, i get it. But it is a quite expensive course. To not book a classroom is quite unprofessional. It is not a learning environment-bums asking for money, random people interupting to ask questions about how they can join. For a course of this cost it should be held in a reserved dedicated classroom, not a public cafe. Other than that it was really well done and the teacher was fantastic.

The class was in a coffee shop, noise ,kids .. We didn’t take interior pictures that is the most important part of architect photography

I was very disappointed that the course was canceled for the second time, this time less than 24 hours ahead of time. I understand that the instructor claims he had food poisoning. The course was very enjoyable. I learned a lot and realized later in the day that my confidence for Street Photography had now increased dramatically, particularly after the practical experience we gained through the "on the street" practice. The group experience was great as I felt “safe” was able to watch how the other photographers in the group were either “received” by the public, or better yet, just not even noticed! This course has helped to spur my passion for photography even more. Alnoor is a really great teacher and he has helped me sort out a number of burning questions about both photography and new camera technology. Please keep him teaching your courses. Paul was very knowledgeable but, in my opinion, had a hard time explaining the "basics" to beginners. Because this was class 1 (beginner level), the instructor should have been teaching as though attendees had very little (or potentially zero) experience working with a camera. Paul jumped right into things and it was hard to keep up and follow along because he was so technical. Overall he is very knowledgeable but had a hard time "dumming" things down for the majority of us who knew nothing. He would also explain certain things so thoroughly but not explain why that information mattered or how we could use that information to achieve something. For a beginner class, he probably should have stuck to bigger picture ideas rather than super focused details. Ultimately, Paul had a hard time explaining how certain things would be applied. I found myself asking "why does that matter" and "how do we apply this concept" throughout the entire day. I think Paul is a good instructor for intermediate advanced classes. I'm happy that I took the course but found myself very frequently confused and just trying to keep up.

Again, no private space for instruction, the public space at Starbucks was too busy so the entire class was conducted outdoors and it was cold. What would we have done if it was raining?! Also, I find that Paul speaks over the head of his beginner students and talks about subsists that are irrelevant in my opinion - I really don’t need to know about the history of photography or I would have taken a history of photography class. I also don’t need to know how lenses are made. I will not be continuing on with The Photo Academy after my 4 sessions are complete and I would NEVER recommend it to anyone.

Alice was very knowledgable and helpful to all those taking the course. Items that could improve is having printed materials than those done by hand on loose pages. Alice Also asked students to guess F/stop, shutter speed and ISO of a number of photos, it would have been better if she had the metadata for these photos to see what were the exact settings of the photos shown rather than her also guessing based on experience. Having the class in a coffee shop made it hard to hear at times and is the reason I would not be going to another Photoacademy class. A studio or rented space should be acquired for the classes.

It was disappointing to realize that there was no private space for the class, rather we were relegated to sitting at a Starbucks which, had it been busy would have been a real problem. There was no real course outline and much of the technical jargo used during instruction was over the head’s of beginners in my opinion. I have 3 more classes and really do not like the idea of sitting in a public space to do so. Paul is certainly a competent instructor but given that there is not a private space for instruction and learning, not only will I not take any additional courses but I would also never recommend The Photo Academy.

Paul had really good knowledge of everybodys’ camera. Easy going presentation. The day never dragged. On your website, you should state class is about 2/3s indoors and 1/3 outdoors. AFTER i enrolled i was surprised i’d be outside. While enrolling, just before the final payment screen there was a symbol that looked like it was for Euros. It slowed me down for a few minutes to ensure it was cdn currency.

The class was awesome, and provided me with all the information I need and more. Alnoor was very knowledgeable and friendly. Thanks so much!

Farah is a terrific photographer. She could improve in the area of explaining technical information. Otherwise she is delightful.

Knowledge of theoretical material was good; group presentation is good; however the noisy environment (Starbucks) was not conducive to learning. Additionally, his sarcastic and cynical way of answering my questions made me reluctant to ask for clarification and made me feel discouraged. Thirdly, it was way too cold to stand around and practice photography outdoors. Under such weather conditions, there should be an indoors venue selected or rescheduled. In sum, theoretically, it was a good introduction, but his ability to relate to and actually teach students is wanton.

Farah was a wonderful teacher! Hope to have her in future courses :)

Since I think there is no such thing as a '10' I would say that we were thrilled with Farah's presentation and her knowledge that she shared with us. We plan on taking another course from her [hopefully you can arrange that] when the weather is less brutal. Even though it was a tough day weatherwise...we REALLY enjoyed the class and feel like we have make significant strides in our quest to understand and appreciate photography.

One of the main qualms I had was with registration. I was the only one to sign up and therefore was told my class was going to be cancelled. My partner ended up taking the course too, just so I could participate. If there is only 1 person signed up, they are still paying for the course and the instructor is still being paid! I think they should be able to do it 1:1. Other than that though, the experience was great and I took away a lot.

While interesting the history of portraiture felt like a filler and was not necessary to me. There was no real feedback on the pictures we were taking and how to improve them. No modelling occurred (ex: here's what I would do now you try). All in all, while I'm sure the instructor was knowledgable, he didn't seem that excited to be there and I didn't leave feeling like I had acquired a good understanding of portraits.

Was surprised to meet in a coffee shop where at times there was a lot of noise like blenders and machinery. Not at all an appropriate place for a class. And I am also surprised to learn that another class is taking place at a Starbucks where I'm sure the same problems will arise. Very unprofessional. Also I doubt that's legal to do since you are making money off it. And the content of the class did not introduce me to the techniques I had hoped for portraiture such as lighting techniques etc, that other places do offer and of course they also offer an actual classroom where you can hear what the teacher is saying at all times and have projectors to display the material. The photo academy sounded like a fancy and interesting school, I quickly discovered that it isn't especially with the 9 classes that got cancelled (which I paid for) and the refund that after a while of emailing back and forth was finally promised to me and began apparently processing on June 8, it's June 20 today and no signs of a refund. No answers in your main phone during 3 and 4pm in the afternoon, I assume you don't even have actual offices where the regular service occurs during the day. And ps, you should definitely invest in a voice actor to do your voicemail over a computerized voice. But I guess that speaks to the kind of quality you are as a brand / "academy".

Great experience

The content was according to my expectations however I didn't had such a good experience. The weather was REALLY bad on Saturday. I think there should be an indoor solution when the weather is not ideal. Especially as it was the first 'zero' class. We don't need to be outside to learn the first steps and there are enough alternatives (churches, markets, subway stations etc).
